Both EE and ED have big stunts lined up next week but which one are you looking forward to the most?

Yeah both. Emmerdale has been building nicely for ages, and even though I haven’t been impressed with EE for a while, the excitement is building for the anniversary week.

Both
Although I think EE more just because of the hour long ep, the live ep and all the possible twists and turns along the way.

Emmerdale
Although Eastenders deservedly has the anniversary hype, another whodunnit reveal isn't exactly the most exciting way to mark the occasion after we had whodunnit reveals for 25th and 30th anniversaries, but the fire does look exciting especially given that it seems a huge part of the live episode and could be quite bold as I don't think even the actual Corrie 50th anniversary live episode had an actual proper fire in it amidst the tram crash story.
Emmerdale's big week though does look more exciting with 18 characters involved and a limousine into frozen lake crash does feel more original in terms of soap standards, so am looking forward to that and have to actually commend Emmerdale for having the guts to do a massive stunt week directly against Eastenders' anniversary when could of easily let EE take centre stage hype wise for the week.
As for the trailers, I like the effort that Emmerdale have put into both of their trailers for next week whereas EE is shrouded in mystery which is good but not giving much away in terms of Monday - Wednesday episodes to lure viewers in.

Both but EastEnders 40th anniversary week.
I'm also excited for the hour-long and the live episode.

I think the crash happens Friday
With all the aftermath/ potential deaths etc next week
So my guess is the cliffhanger on Friday will end with the limo in the lake

to be fair the whodunnit reveal seems like it isnt the main focus of the anniversary unlike the 25th and 30th

Apparently Michelle Collins confirmed at the TV Choice Awards that she isn't actually in the Live episode. Cindy will probably feature heavily in Mon-Wednesday. I think the Live ep will be mostly the explosion aftermath and Martin/Stacey/Ruby, Sonia giving birth and Phil's storyline and Denise/Jack/Ravi and hopefully some surprises.

Is Cindy going to end up in hospital again?

EastEnders is absolutely on fire right now - no pun intended! There are plots galore brewing, bombs waiting to go off left, right and centre and the square is literally buzzing with residents, extras and community spirit. The scene is perfectly set for an anniversary disaster of epic proportions! Sorry, but EastEnders p*sses all over the ITV soaps and will demonstrate exactly how soap is done properly as it always has.

Emmerdale are trying to compete with the biggest week of soap in a decade. It's going down the Hollyoaks route by relying on incest, serial killers, stunts, unnecessary deaths, special episodes and pure sensationalism.

I cannot comment on the quality of Emmerdale but from what I gather there's been a lot of special episodes.
I'm excited for next weeks EastEnders purely because the special episodes are novel, we don't get them very often.
Tonight's episode, without giving any spoilers, was fantastic. Soap at its best.

EastEnders
Daytime storms, flying caravans, AWOL cows and murdering mares turned Emmerdale into a joke, which was enough for me to ditch it again. Jane Hudson, Kate Brooks and Laura Shaw are all terrible showrunners. They are running the crash storyline next week to obviously compete, it could have played out any time but the ITV soaps are desperate to stay relevant. What can we say about Corrie? It doesn't even feature in the OP's list, hardly surprising because it's absolute rubbish with an audience of habit. It isn't appointment tv, live or otherwise. EastEnders isn't perfect by any means, however the BBC have learned to treat it with the respect it deserves again - that includes the audience and 40 years of history continually referenced in episodes on a regular basis.

As always. Without taking anything else into account, the hour long episode alone is a nice treat considering EE don't have them willy nilly.

Yes I agree, next week will be very special indeed as it doesn't happen every week like it does on the ITV soaps. That is exactly what makes it stand out and gives it it's uniqueness alongside the ITV soaps.
