ResponsibilitiesJob Responsibilities: The APP provides healthcare to patients with an emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion, health maintenance and supportive care. The APP works independently, as well as collaboratively, to diagnose, prescribe treatment, manage and evaluate patient care. The APP functions as an educator, healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate. This individual makes patient rounds in the hospitals.
Norton Hospital is a 605-bed hospital and regional referral center for complex care, specializing in complicated cancer care, spine care and maternal care. It serves as a teaching facility for the nearby University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Norton Memorial Infirmary opened in 1886. The Rev. John Norton was associate rector of Christ Church Cathedral and was considered by many to be a good Samaritan because of his strong values and devotion to the poor. Originally located at Third and Oak streets, the hospital, now at 200 E.
Norton Children's Hospital is Kentucky and Southern Indiana's only full-service, free-standing pediatric hospital and Louisville's only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
The five Louisville hospitals have a total of 1,907 licensed beds, and the Southern Indiana hospitals have a total of 347 licensed beds. The hospitals provide inpatient and outpatient general care as well as specialty care, including heart, neuroscience, cancer, orthopedic, women's and pediatric services.
